How to Choose Your First Padel

Choosing the right padel can make or break your padel game. For beginners, a round padel with a soft EVA core like the Apex Bone is ideal because it offers a large sweet spot and excellent control. Intermediate players may want to look at teardrop-shaped hybrid models like the Flux Edge, which provide a balanced blend of control and power as your technique matures.

1. The Shape Matters

Padels come in Round (Control), Teardrop (Hybrid), and Diamond (Power) shapes. Beginners should stick with round padels as they offer the largest sweet spot, minimizing errors on off-center hits.

2. The Foam Core (EVA vs FOAM)

EVA soft rubber is highly popular because of its elasticity and vibration absorption. It dampens impact shock, protecting your elbows while keeping the ball in contact with the padel face slightly longer for better placement.

3. Padel Weight

A lighter padel (350g - 365g) is easy to swing and control at the net, whereas a heavier padel (370g+) provides more mass to generate power behind your smashes. Start light to avoid injuries like tennis elbow.
